tank has everted his or hers it parts plenty of times but i cant tell for sure how much more different does the hemipene look like compared to the himclitoris his look like smooth balls about the size of a pinky tip

I believe that males have a flowery looking tip at the end of the tube whereas the females are smooth.

What species are you talking about?

If it's a Bosc or Blackthroat and of reproductive age, there is no mistaking the huge 'units' males have. They are quite big and have a bulbous "flowering" tip. Females evert smaller narrow and blunt tubes, but do, in fact, evert something. Watch one take a dump and they normally will poke out for a brief moment in most species of monitors from Ackies to Water monitors.
