substrate?

snakesnhotsauce Jan 20, 2009 12:07 PM

Okay I am just curious if anyone has ever tried using aquarium gravel as a substrate? I want to use something that looks nice enough to display. I know sand is a no-no, but i was thinking about the gravel because its alot larger and i dont think they would try and eat it. Please reply let me know if im going in the wrong direction. thanks

Gravel would be worse than sand. You can look for tiles you like and fill them in with clean sifted sand. There are many types of tile and your bound to find one you like the look of.

Gravel would definately be worse.

If you have an adult leo then fine grain play sand is fine and has very minimal impaction risk.

Leos less than 12-15months should always be housed on a solid substrate such as tile, paper towel, shelf liner etc...
