07 EBV Salmons: Then and Now...

TopNotchBoas Jan 20, 2009 12:54 PM

These kiddos we're from my first litter in March of 2007. Walking into a group of newborn babies boas of this magnitude for the first time is something I'll always remember.

I always find it interesting to see other peoples comparison shots of their boas development. It can certainly provide insight when we choose individuals for our own pairings... at the very least showing just how much these animals do change over time.

So I took my these two animals outside yesterday for a round of updated shots.

I'll start with the female. To say this little girl is robust would be a huge understatement. She hits HARD! I think, both physically and visually, she is the female pick of the litter. Check out this litter shot:

Notice the lone boa on the left side of the cage nearest to the camera? That this little girl. She was the only one that had broken from the pack. She was immediately the most active and alert. Here she is after gently pulling the newspaper back for a quick shot:

Here she was just after her first shed:

And here she is today (middle of day, dark phase):

Also in the litter was her brother. I really had no plans to hold this guy back initially but as more and more time passed it was apparent he was special. Here he was outside just after his first shed:

And here he is today:

Compared to the female he is lighter with better body color... while the female has more red in her saddles and tail. It's been a blast watching these kids grow up and develop into the fine sub-adults they are now!
