Snake pooped while brumating?

merlin7676 Jan 20, 2009 06:05 PM

This year (again) my snake starting refusing food. The last time he ate was Nov 14 so Dec 30th I turned off the light, Jan 3rd went the heat pad and he's been in my spare bathroom for about 1 and a 1/2 weeks..It's an outside wall bathroom so the temp is a good 63 degrees in the tank...well today when I checked on him he had a BM in there..not too big and mostly liquid with a small urate (white) spot...I thought for sure he'd be empty by now..do I have to worry about him getting infection or spoiled food in his gut still? Or is the BM a good thing?

Happens all the time. I think getting them completely cleaned out is unlikely, as I've had them go all the way through brumation and then poop during the warmup period. The main idea is to not have any big pieces of food that haven't been digested in the snake when its brumating.
