LOL... yeah, if she wants a different snake it is somehow justified as not counting. I've used this to my advantage several times. All I have to do is get her as interested in the same morph or species as I am and then find a supreme example of said morph or species and usually we end up getting it.
I'm just happy that I have been able to get her over her fear of reptiles and amphibians. She is still deathly afraid of bugs of all sorts, but seems to have gotten over crickets (mainly because every now and then there would be an escapee and she learned to deal with it.)
All of my kids have been raised not to fear anything, rather I teach them to have a healthy respect for both the animal and it's natural behaviors. So far, it seems to be paying off - I've got three kids who I can almost guarantee will enjoy poking around in the woods as much as I do.
