Can anyone give me some input?

Just recently acquired a sub-adult boa from a neglected home, and he appears to be nearing his shed-cycle. His eyecaps became blue and milky for about two days, then as of the other day they cleared up and his scales are still iridescent. Is this common? I suppose I shall wait and see.

It is normal to turn blue then clear up before shed. With it being a rescue, Once shed, I'd check that shed for eyecaps - make sure they came off with the shed. Sometimes they stick. Also, if the skin looks dry and or crappy make sure to keep the cage a little more damp until after the shed to help.

This is very normal, and you will see it every time they shed. I use the "clearing" phase of the shed cycle as a sign to mist cage, to avoid stuck shed etc.
Works everytime, never had one stuck shed even in my freedom breeders.

After I posted this message last night, I came home to find a beautiful piece of shed waiting for me. Eyecaps came off perfectly fine, although he was still working on a small portion of the tail. However, I think I found that piece this morning...along with a gigantic duece. He was busy, that's for sure.

Thanks for your comments!
