W.C. ALBINO E. HOGNOSE SNAKE

TOM_CRUTCHFIELD Jan 22, 2009 08:32 PM

I didn't collect this but a friend did in Central Florida. This is the first Albino E. Hognose I've seen. Once I had an adult w.c. Albino S. Hognose. Here's a few pics as I now have purchased it. Imagine finding this...lol...TC

Man thats awesome!
No easterns here in MT, but we do have plains hogs & you should see how excited I get when I find a normal one, I can only imagine the excitment of finding an albino. I hope it does well for you

There used to be a strain of albino Easterns that derived from a snake found in a non-herp pet store. IIRC, the snake was brought into the pet store gravid, laid eggs, the eggs hatched and there was/were albino(s) in the litter. Someone bought the whole litter and mother.
This is was in SC sometime in the late 80s/early 90s, I believe.

Even if it isn't the first - it's a cool snake!

Hi Vic, and this time it is because it's the ONLY one I've seen. THAT WAS FUNNY BY THE WAY. Unfortunately very few here are old enough to get the joke...lol...I should add but you are..lol..TC

The web site says no history is know but from what I remember being told, the snake was found exiting a pile of limbs and shrubs that were being burned somewhere in SC in the mid 90's. The snake was purchased and being maintained and the owner died a few years back, the snake died also I think. Memory is foggy becuase I have only talked with a fe people about it. John Hollister knows a bit of the story along with Soderberg. Nice and completely different looking than yours.

Great purchase on your part and good luck with it. Link to site below the photo

Boy, that one is prettier than mine. I suspect every albino E. Hognose would look different though.....TC

Yeah, all both of them right, lol. I agree, depending on the locality and such, each will look mearkedly different. However, while I do like the colors of the one I posted, yours is probably prettier to those who like the more "white" look it displays..."eye of the beholder" right?
