New Pictures..

falias Sep 10, 2003 02:10 AM

I spent a long time trying to get the color right on my lizards. I have to sell these guys babies, so I want accurate pictures. The mothers color comes out very close..but the father is very off. I change the light, I try flash and no flash, I change the background...i dunno. In real life this guy is lemon colored. He is a bright and glowing yellow...in his pictures he is an orange color. He is several shades darker in his pictures. I can't seem to get his color right, and if I get it close the picture looks fake, and the lighting looks bad. Here are the pictures. If anyone has any suggestions to make yellows show..please let me know. My camera is an Olympus C-3040 ZOOM. Does anyone else have a BRIGHT yellow lizard they have taken pictures of that they can post?

Thanks,
Jen

With the pictures, you might try taking him outside, or in soft lighted room, I could never capture my dragons colors I took them in my daughters room, with pink carpet, and a soft light, and got the colors beautiful,,the bottom picture of the male kind of looks what you are describing anyway,,2cnd thing, I'm not saying this to be rude at all so please don't take it that away, but the way you words your ad's looks like your trying to be so competitive against everyone,,,again not trying to be rude, just don't know how to word it right, your dragons are beautiful, but so are many others out there, you have an ad right next to dragons by nature, and their dragons are VERY Beautiful, and under that Chris allen has dragons his are Very beautiful, I don't know maybe I'm just seeing things or maybe when you sell you need to be so competive I would think if your all dragon breeders you shouldn't have to be, but that is just me,,or maybe it's like a mom thing, every mom thinks her child is the MOST beautiful, and cutiest thing..if it were me I would reword some things, just ot be nice to others but that is just me...again not saying that in a ride way,,

I think it is just the proud mother thing. I am SURE my dragon are the most beautiful...but then again chris and brandon will feel the same way about their babies. And they have some breathtaking dragons definatly! Just mine are the MOST beautiful cuz their mine...hehe. It not really a competitve thing...I don't even look at the other adds on the page usually (I always get too tempted if I do). I just click post ad at the top. I have looked for MANY reptiles on similar classifieds though, and I seem to click ads that say things like COLOR! Usually (not always, there are some idiots out there) if and add title says COLOR! and Beautiful! the animals inside are going to be high end. More expensive too.

These are just my opinions from being the one browsing the ads...
What kind of titles catch your attention?
I don't do the color cross thing...(I don't really believe in it..shhhhh) I think people are making up a bunch of fancy words to describe what can be said in red, yellow, orange, and brown...in varying degrees.

Thanks,
Jen

Here is one of my babies that is gone... off to her new life!
Beatiful, but maybe not the MOST beautiful Babies!

Part of the problem may be your camera. The fact is, not all digital cameras ( like many other things ) are created equal.
Some pick up colors better than others, even among samples of the same model.
Also, the background colors can make a difference on what the camera does, color-wise, with the main object.

However, your camera seems to be a good one, from the reviews I've read.

Here's a site that may help you get the most out of it.
The link is to the page concerning your particular camera, and the pics the reviewers took with it, and what they have to say about them.
Hope it helps you get the results you want.

unfortunately different cameras will capture images differently. it has to do with the way thee ccd chips are set up in the camera from the manufacturer. many times you will not notice it unless you are trying to capture a specific color. let me know if this is more like the correct color.

And dont forget that it's all getting filtered through everybody's particular computer/monitor set up, if it's going online.
Out of 10 of us seeing the image, there may be none of us seeing the same shade/hue. And there's no telling who is seeing the correct shade, if anyone.

Have you ever tried taking pics on a white background? Like a bathtowel or something?
White would make the beardie colors vivid.

Most cameras have auto backlight features. They compensate for the amount of light in the background. Your picture has a dark background so it is not compensating enough, making your dragon too bright. If you had a light,i.e. basking light, in the back, your dragon would look very rich or dark because the feature will overcompensate.
I have found that with proper lighting and on a white background, I can get the most color accurate pictures with my camera..

Hope that helps.

I wish his head wasn't out of frame like it is. If it were in full frame and his foot didn't look so bad at the time, I would frame that one. I'll have to do that set up again & see if I can get another to come out so good. The only problem is, there is rarely a time when at least a part of him isn't in shed. lol

Thanks.
