Anyone who is studying reptile parasites?

rowad Sep 10, 2003 03:44 AM

I know this forum more then any other focuses on parasitic control, therefore I'm sure some of you study them or do your own fecal floats/smears.
I have a few questions for those who successfully do this, please let me know who you are.
ThankYou

just getting started. got a microscope and all the other stuff. I am going to be starting some experiments testing different products to see how they change and effect different parasites in my herps. hopefully I will have a hard time finding animals with parasites although with several hundred animals there will probably be a ready supply.

was wondering where you got your microscope from? What are its Stats? (make model etc.) and how much did you pay?
Thank You

got it from mel sobel microscopes, it is a ken-a-vision t1252. cost $339 I like it but would prefer to have a mechanical stage. unfortunately that means upgrading to the next model (about $800). my vet spent the afternoon with me and we did a bunch of slides so I could get the hang of things. I got a good book and a chart that shows all the different parasites for reference. check back through this forum and there are several posts regarding this topic

I am trying to get one through a college lab.
What about the fecal flotation solutions, etc?
