Hi,
I've been working with them for quite a while now, and yes, they are tameable with a gentle but frequent handling schedule. However, they don't like to be touched when in the cage, so best would be to use a hook. After they are outside the cage, they will calm down quick, so acutally the only problem is to get them out of the cage!
Cheers,
Wulf

My jungle carpet behaves the same so i think i could work with a white lipped. Thank you for your feedback [=
Yeah, you will love these guys! They show a variety of very interesting behavior, you don't find in other pythons. They are very soundy, almost talking to you, they regularly regurgitates fur balls, and are very fast striking snakes. They change color, turning from a more yellowish at night to a brownish-violet over the day (called physiological color change). Do yourself a favor and get some wlps. You won't regret it.
Cheers,
Wulf

I got into White-Lippeds due to my best friend (a non-herper who just shakes her head at my reptile madness). She saw them at a Reptile Show I drug her too and fell in love with their look. I decided to take the dash and bought a trio (she houses one of the girls at her place, LoL! Fine by me -- she's an only child there and gets a lot of attention). Ever since I'm obsessed. I'd list them as one of my favorite species of snakes out there! They're not nearly as pricey as some of the fancy snakes I have, but I feel like they're the pride of my collection.
I'd have to agree with Wulf. They're extremely fast and strike hard. However, they're docile despite their speed, and with minimal time can be tamed down. They are just very territorial, and have to be removed from their cages by hook only. Once out, they calm right up.
Go for it. You won't regret it!!

I've got a few, and they're awesome snakes for sure. One thing I don't do though is keep them high in the cage stack. I like them around waist level so they're not flying out at face level, cause they will fly out sometimes. If I'm going to take a bite I'd much rather it be my arm/hand or stomach than my face. After the initial opening of the cage though, they're pretty easy to work with.
