Lost my milksnake

thatliz11 Jan 24, 2009 08:16 PM

So, late yesterday afternoon my g/f got a female ghost hundoran milk. We ran out and got her a new set up. SO EXCITED!(We have a male hypo hundoran but wanted to house them seprate for now) By the time we got home it was getting pretty late and neither of us had the engry to start rearraging things and setting her cage up. So, in with our male she went. I figured, one night can't hurt. Well, I woke up and HE is gone. He WAS in a 55gal and he has been for about a year. He's never escaped before. Guess he REALLY didn't want company. My question is, how the hell do I find him?? I have 3 cats and 2 dogs and NONE of us can find him! I looked under/in the couch. Behind the TV. Under the fridge, washer/dryer, water heater....I just don't know what else to do! Any suggestions? My g/f jokingly says we should tie a string to a mouses tail! Anyone got a better idea?

line all the doorways with baking soda (try to find a way to get your other pets not to ruin this somehow) and look for disruptions in the lines, this way you'd be able to see what rooms theyve been going in and out of at least. keep checking behind the fridge, not necessarily under it, but in the back where all the heat is (once mine escaped and it was there). Also, keep a close close eye on where your pets are, especially the cats because they will likely find it for you. Another time mine escaped it was gone for 4 days, and my cat was just standing in front of the closet (which was completely closed)weirdly and scratching on it a bit, i opened the door to see and my snake was in there, but way up high on the closet pole. cats are really good at finding things. maybe if it's gone for a few days, set up some kind of trap in the middle of your house with a dead mouse because it will probably be out looking for food.

Hey I have lost a couple snake in my day and to be honest i found that they don't normally leave the area they got lost in. Both snakes i have lost were found with in less the a metre of where it was lost several days/weeks later. Also i am pretty sure that most snake will eat another snake if it is a lot smaller then it even corn snakes! Milk snakes are very similar to king snake temperment when dealing with other snakes. If the one you put in was a lot smaller then the snake that was already in there you probably wont have to feed that snake this week...Sorry bro
