yellow rat snake

Does anyone know a breeder of yellow rat snakes? Is it so hard to find a cb baby just because they are unpopular or are there other reasons?

Sunshine Serpents was selling babies and adults. American rat snakes in general have not "caught on" as much as corn snakes, king snakes and milk snakes.

Thanks. I hate to sound picky but I'm really looking for a more northern type yellow rat like the one I already have. I like the darker stripes. I tried to put a pic of her on here but haven't figured it out yet.

The breeder I mentioned works with different types from different locales. I don't know how picky you can afford to be, as they aren't very many people breeding yellow rats compared to other types of American rats.

I have to second that one. SSH is one of several credible folks who breed for locality animals.
The strong yellow with dramatic stripes come from north central FL.

I think one of the reason there aren't many Yellow Rat breeders might be that baby Yellow Rats sell for dirt cheap from the wholesalers in Florida (because they catch them in their yards!).

I bred some nice central FL yellows for a few years but usually ended up just giving away the babies.

It's a shame, because a nice Yellow Rat is certainly one of the most beautiful and unique snakes in North America.

...at work in northern Hillsborough county...

another one there...(after consuming a baby blue jay)

and one in the mangroves by my house....

One of the first snakes I kept and bred sucessfully, I still have them because I think they're great snakes.
