Racks? Opinions needed

cenobite74 Jan 27, 2009 10:53 AM

When Uncle Sam decides to send my refund this year I will upgrading my racks from my old DIY ones to a more "proffesional" system. So which ones do you guys like? AP? ARS? Boaphile? Freedom Breeder? Which ones, why, advantages, dissadvantages, etc....Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance and have a great day everyone!!!

I personally love the ARS racks. They are built very well and put together in about ten minutes tops. The built in cup holders are a great option, and it's a very versatile system.

Yeah these were my first choice but there are several manufaturers to chose from so I wanted several opinions. Those do seem to be the best available just from what I have seen.

I like the new vision cb70 one. It is reasonably priced already has the right amount of vent holes in it so I dont have to poke holes in the tubs. There are recessed grooves for the heat cable (which comes wuth the rack.

..........
open topped racks are not as good....not naming names....

...closed sided / topped / backed.... work better...like the Rhino Raxx

I buy from Animal Plastics exclusively now. They make great racks and cages. Try one out, you won't go back.

Already some good responses to your question.
I have 4 ARS racks, 3 7030 and one hatchling rack.
Are they pricey? Well that's relative. Humidity is not a problem in these racks. The tubs are much heavier duty than CB70 and the built in cup holder is a real plus/have to for me.
They are easy to move on the heavy duty casters, come with a helix DB1000; great and adequate heat and control. Even if you build your own rack, buy the tubs from ARS/Brian Hahn. He is a ball python guy and put a lot of thought into these racks.
Good luck with your decision and hope your tax refund is quick

Hell I may just decide to buy one of each! Seriously thanks for the responses. Of course everyone has their own opinion and I will take everyones advice to heart. I'm leaning toward either ARS or AP.

I have both and like both. AP has always been a great company to deal with and make great products. When I switched to ARS it was not due to problems with AP, simply that ARS is an entirely different level.

Goodluck!
