If I crosswd my amber and butter male with a anery female?
With no hidden genes, you'd get 100% normal het for Anery, hypo, carmel, butter (amel)
The parents would have to be het for similar genes to get those type of snakes.
Say the anery was het for carmel. the male being an amber, amber is carmel with hypo, so you could get some carmels in the mix.

Thanks I was curious. I wanted to start playing with some corn snake morphs. If I crossed the amber to a albino okatee I guess they will also be normal hets?
correct as long as their are no hidden genes in the mix.
with corns their is a good chance of the anery being het for amel or hypo not a given but a good chance of it.

The only way you're going to get morphs as the outcome for your breeding projects is if you breed two snakes carrying the same gene togather.
Butter (carmel & amel) x anery doesn't have any genes that "match up." Neither does Albino Okeetee (amel) x Amber.
You need two snakes carrying the same gene to make morphs. For example Ghost (hypo & anery) x with either a hypo or anery (or both) to create morphs as a result of the breeding.

cant wait for te day when you produce a solid gray corn snake. That anery stripe vanishing pattern is a beauty!

Thanks Misty,
Hopefully it will happen this summer. I only had two babies hatch out of the 2008 clutch and they had as much (if not more) pattern than their parents.
If I get a better hatch rate in 2009, I'm guessing they'll be some patternless offspring (or pretty darn close).
Tim

wow! that baby is awesome.
Better luck this year!
