deppei what?

A.C. Jan 28, 2009 08:48 PM

Just got these snakes in a trade (long, long story) and want to properly id before I sell, breed, etc.

Are these deppei deppei or deppei jani?

They are in the 3-4' size and scarfing down 3 xl mice per feeding.

Looks like Pituophis deppei deppei to me.

I would say they are definitely deppei deppei. It doesn't surprise me that they are eating so much, as they look a bit on the thin side. They are fairly heavy bodied snakes. Nice animals though.

thanks for the replies. deppei deppei is what I thought. I just wanted to confer. Yes, a lil on the thin side as advertised by the person who sent them to me. However, at this rate, they will be twice their size in the coming months!

Yes, my 08 pair have ravenous appetites. Especially the male. I have to be careful not to over feed them at that age. They are great snakes. I like the jani also. I think my jani male is my favorite snake, even though he isn't the most expensive or the prettiest. I just love his attitude and his very fast growth rate. That's a huge pine by the way(is that a pine?).
