I work at a zoo and we have a leopard gecko on exhibit in our education building. It was on play sand but I noticed that all of its feces were made completely out of sand. If you picked one up and crushed it, it was all sand. So I am worried that the amount of sand she is swallowing will cause impaction. I was wondering what anyone would suggest as a good substrate for this animal that would also look good on display. I have seen that calcium sand is also possible of impaction. I would love any help and advice anyone has to offer. I saw something at the pet store tonight, millet blend by Zilla, does anyone know anything about this product. We also have a blue tongue skink on sand that I want to take off of it just to be on the safe side so I would appreciate any help.
Thank you.
