galvanized trough

ryan_m Jan 28, 2009 11:30 PM

Hey guys...this is more a question pertaining to bearded dragons. I realize this is the monitor forum, however it seems that you folks probably have the most knowledge when it comes to galvanized horse trough enclosures. Well from what I have read online (mostly on this forum) a galvanized trough enclosure is one of the best ways to go when it comes to monitors. How do you think a trio of bearded dragons would do in a 6 by 2 trough set up? Thanks.

They would do super spectacular, if set up like the lizards they are : )

The trough isn't monitor specific, but rather, an economical, indestructible base that won't rot, won't warp, will hold a good substrate and a great temp gradient.

Check out our trough FAQ at our site, you can dress up the troughs in all kinds of ways. You use them as the base of your cage, and go from there according to your needs.

I can tell you I wouldn't keep Beardeds really any differently than Ackie monitors, aside from the green in their diet. Great temp gradient, great substrate, great moisture gradient, no special bulbs.

Hey Robyn,
I'm very familiar with you're FAQ. Its how I was introduced to the galvanized trough set ups. I'm planning on buying a trio of red ackies in the near future...so building a trough set up for my beardies will give me some practice for when I build a second one for the ackies.

P.S I don't know if you remember me but I posted on the Bearded dragon forum sometime last week about a dragon that just recently came out of brumation and was not eating well. I upped his bask temps and tried a few new feeders (dubias) and hes getting back to his normal self.
