the question is, is it OK for the snake?

What are the temps on the patio? Is it secure where dogs, cats, raccoons, kids, etc. can't get to the snake? What kind of snake? Are there any dangerous (to the snake) chemicals used out there, like insecticides?

Theres no chemicals, dogs, cats, etc....The patio is big and the ruthveni kingsnake is in a shady spot.

As long as the temps don't get over or under what the snake can tolerate, it should be fine. In some ways, it may be better because it will be exposed to natural thermoperiods and photoperiods.
