No doubt a nice Peruvian, but what is hyper? No insult intended, what does this label "hyper" mean? I have a "hyper" dog that I know is worth less money than I paid for her because she is "hyper" LOL...

This is what I feel (Locale) guys need to get a grip on is the market names that our animals are given....I do not have any "hyper" snakes, but wish I had some "hyper" horny males and some "hyper" receptive females LOL...

Can someone please teach me about this new label "hyper" so I don't sound dumber than I really am?

John, I am not trying to use your post as a sounding board, but this "hyper" thing has got to find a ground!

Be well
Joel

I believe he's referring to hypermelanism due to the darkness of the snake...

I was under the impression he was speaking about the "Hyper Pigmented" Peruvian Boa.
Gus produced a few high colored Pervian Boas,he mentioned they appear to be Hyper Pigmented I believe is how he stated it.
He just meant they were high color, reds, pinks, oranges, blues etc.. I believe.
The ratio that these appear in repeating letters leads people to believe it might possibly be a recessive type mutation.

Then again he maybe referring to a Hypermelanism.

The first thought that came to my mind was more colorful variety
not the darker variety.

while that may be a nice snake it is not a hyperpigmented peruvian they look more like brook trout their colors are absolutely mind blowing if it were a hyperpigmented peruvian it would be a slight purple color

Sorry. I was referring to "hypermelanalistic", as in a nice dark "Pucalpa type". As in - looks like, not true locality.
Didn't know any better. Did not know the "Hyper" Peruvian referred to "Hyperpigmented". Thought they were just dark. My bad.
Anyway, the breeder of the snake says it's a Guyanan X Costa Rican. He had a nice gray Peruvian male in the mix and I tend to believe it is the dad and not the Guyanan male. Since he produced them. I guess he should know.

i cant imagine what would posses anyone to try that cross from now on every litter that costa rican female produces even if it is to a known pure costa rican bci male will be suspect due to possible seminal retension

While I have not seen any HyperPeru in person the pictures look,
exactly as you have explained Taylor.
They have a purplish hue look to them like a Brook trout.
