It is my understand from posts in this forum that superworms are mealworms that are given a substance to keep them from pupating. Is it possible to duplicate this at your home?? Or am I doomed to always buy superworms from someplace else??

Superworms are not given the growth hormone. Giant mealworms are given a growth hormone. I dont believe you can do this at home, unless you can buy the hormone or somthing. There are mixed opinons on rather it is good or bad. I dont feed them to my leos. I feed supers but not giants. Granted mealies already have it in their system, but to much of something (like steriods) are bad.

actually a species called "zoophoba" a tropical form of beetle larvae. They don't live in the cold like a mealworm must have at least room temp. To breed them take individual supers and put in film canisters with a little beding in a while they turn to large beetles just like mealworm beetles but about 3 times as big. Super or King mealworms are steroid induced I am sure in most cases though.
