My red eyed tree frogs get a weird coloration sometimes and I was wondering if it might be bacteria, or if it's just because they are stressed out. They are norally a bright green color, but at times they are a dark green, usually at night. Lately I've been seeing a mixture of the two, dark green skin with bright green spots all over their backs and legs. Is this ok?

Thanks

You may want to see a vet. Color change is normal. My two babies go from bright green to sort of a brownish green. But the neon spots that you are talking about isn't a good thing. I can't remember off hand what others have said it was, but it usually ended in a death. BUT if you can get your RE to a vet you MAY be able to catch it soon enough.

Good luck!

Vet...yeah well the vets down here don't seem to understand the concept of "emergency cases" and they're all booked up (the ones that take frogs) for 2 to 3 weeks. (Which is stupid because I have no problem with paying an extra emergency fee..) And they won't even answer questions over the phone. One time I called and said that I needed to bring a frog in immediately because she looked like she was dying, and the d***** secretary said, "Well, the vets are all out for the day. Sorry." So my frog died. *sighs* I miss the vets back in Illinios. Good people.

Does anyone know anything I can do about these spots?

Oh, man.. I hate Orlando.

Anyway, these are some vets likely to work on herps http://arav.org/Members/FL.htm and I just posted the ones that might work for you below. But just go through your yellow pages and look through as much as you can. Orlando is a pretty herp-friendly place, so there are probably a good deal of vets. Good luck.

The problem is that alot of the vets dont list in the phone book (and theres 6 pages of vets) whether or not they do exotics, and the ones that do and you call, say they do everything but frogs. But I went to Dr. Hess. Thank you for that post. So now, $200 dollars later and one dead frog, maybe my other two sick ones will survive.

I took my WTF to the vet to have some spots it has on it's skin looked at. The vet tried rub them of gently, she said if it was a fungus it would rub off. She told me to just keep a eye in them and if they change, to come back in. Hopefully this info will help some.
