History of Hypo Brooks?

BobS Feb 01, 2009 08:13 PM

Is anyone aware of the history of Hypo Brooks? Where the first one was found?
When folks have talked on the Forum about Brooks with perhaps traces of Cal. King are they talking about the common Hypo Brooks?
Thanks,
Bob.

Sometimes I think the kid with two pet snakes has something that those of us with 50 to 200 lost a long time ago.

If it was discussed previously it went by me. I hadn't really been interested in Brooks Kings for a long time.

Thanks,
Bob.

Hypo Brooks started popping up in a few different lines of brooks kings. The lines they came out of were already some of the best lines of brooks out there. They were "pure" South FL brooks, with most of the founders having been caught in South Dade. I know Len Krysko's and Kathy Love's were definitely from extreme south Dade. I've never talked to Doug Beard about them, so I'm not sure with his. But those were the first 3 breeders to come out with hypo brooks.

It is the lavender morph that is often thought to have been introduced from Cal kings.

I talked to Doug Beard about a year ago and he gave me the full run down on the history of his hypos. I don't the entire facts, so forgive me. But from what I can remember his animals came from wildcaughts in the Homestead area where he lives. He found several WC hets there (that later proved out) and that is what I found to be most interesting.
