Question about Pieds

Alfonso Feb 01, 2009 11:28 PM

I was under the impresion that the pied balls keep their heads of the normal color or the morph color if is a double gene pied, like a spider pied (Spider head and pied body), the white amount on the snake can be high or low but the head will stay the normal color. Maybe I been wrong all this time because now with the super cinny pied, AKA Panda Pied, that is not the case. I also heard some time ago that someone produced the whitest snake ever and it is a BEL Pied, on this case I can imaging the snake being totally white but with the super cinny pied I was imagining a White snake with black head and some black spots in his body.
Thanks for your comments.

There's weird stuff going on with pied combos, and nobody can say for sure what anything will look like until it's produced. Some mutations definitely interact with the pied gene in a very strange way.

Axanthic, albino, ghost, LA, pastel, etc all produced differently regular pied patterns but with different colors.

Pin pied produces a pied with a some pinstriping to the non-white sections.

Spider piebald is a very high white piebald with a spider head. Essentially the only non-white section is the head.

Lesser piebald is pure white.

Super black pastel piebald has a white head but black spots.

Mojave pied has a lighter gold coloration to it's non-white sections.

The all white Pieds aren't BELs Pieds. It was just a Lesser Pied.
Very surprising.
