exoticball Feb 02, 2009 12:19 PM

Does any one have any tips as to where I can get metal connectors for flex watt???

Is there some type of connector that I could get at lowes, home depot, or what not???

I don't use the connectors, just use your solder iron or gun to melt, scrape back the platic and solder directly to the conductor on the flexwatt, then insulate with a little silicone caulk. Allow the silicone to cure and air before puting in with reptiles.

I would definitely use the connectors made for Flex watt. They are not sold at Home Depot or Lowes. You can find them at many of the suppliers that advertise on KS. The Flexwatt connectors are easier and safer to use than trying to rig it on your own.

Go to calorique.com and give them a call.
some of the suppliers of flexwatt only sell the connectors attached to a cord. The connectors are not expensive but the special clamping tool is a little pricey! tom harbin

If you're not going to buy the expensive tool for connecting the connectors to the flexwatt, then soldering is the way to go. You get much more consistent results from the heat tape this way.

Expensive tools? All you need is a pair of pliers....Linemans, needle nose, etc.

I am just going to go with the clips. I just need to order more of them. Oh and on the pliers trick, that kind of worked but if you crank them down with a pair of vice grips you really get the job done!

thanks again every one,
