Weird pinkie eating question

kestrien Feb 03, 2009 06:48 PM

Hey,

Trying to encourage my leopard to eat after a spell of refusing everything. There are some crickets in the cage right now, and I offered a pinkie mouse as well. When I looked in the next day, part of the pinkie was gone...is that the gecko nibbling, or could the crickets somehow be responsible? Are crickets carrion eaters? Usually he eats the entire pinkie.

Thanks, all.

How much time elapsed within that period? Crickets can certainly eat pinkies, but not very quickly, and certainly not just a couple of crickets.

Most of the time they attack, kill, and eat just like normal. Sometimes, however, they'll attack, kill, and then just leave. Maybe yours was only a little hungry? Haha

I've never offered mine live, so I don't know if they would attack it just to kill it or not. But, yeah mine always swallow whole and never resort to ripping and chewing.

It was a frozen pinkie offered, and the time elapsed was overnight & while I was at work the next day. Hopefully he's just munching a little bit. Weirdo.

Thanks all!
