Ok, this might sound a little rediculous, but I want to ask you experts "What exactly is it like when Collareds mate?"
Mine are still too young I believe but I'm not certain and I just want to be ready just in case.
The only thing I have for comparison is gecko mating, which is quite rough. The males usually start by nipping at the tail and then they jump on, bite down on the neck and go at it. The whole thing usually doesn't last long. Sometimes you don't actually see it but you know they just did it if you see the males licking themselves between the legs the way dogs do. They always do that afterwards.
Is the mating act similar with Collareds?
It seems my boy has been acting a little frisky...running around and hopping about a lot more. He also is spending a lot of time sitting right next to the girls and sometimes right on top of them. But nothing has looked like mating to me. I think they are just happy that spring is near.
Thanks....I was just curious.
