Spider Genetics & Breeding posibilities

JohnEx Feb 05, 2009 05:46 AM

Hello,

I recently aquired a beautifull spider male. I have read contrasting comments on the spider genes. Inone book I read that the morph is dominant and on another that it is a recessive.

Since I plan to breed and produce something beautifull in the first hatch I would like to you to inform me on some good combinations in order to proceed in getting a female morph.

Regards
John

The spider gene is a Dom/co-dom so you will see the spider gene in all carrying offspring. If you are looking for breeding pairs I would look up bee's there is the bumble bee, lesser bee, queen bee, wanna bee.. ect. All the bee morphs have the spider gene in them mixed with another morph. Find one you like and go for it.

The confusion about the Spider gene is whether it is Dominant (SS) or Co-Dominant (Ss). Many believe it is Codom but the Homozygous Dominant form (SS) is fatal, so there will never be any "Super Spiders".
