I love how quick they are to talk about the burms eating the key largo wood rats, when in fact they are endangered because we destroyed most of their habitat long before burms were a problem(same with the deer). I also love how if people are so concerned about the wood rats no one mentions that 9 million or so feral and stray cats in Florida and their impact on the native wildlife. Imagine the outrage if someone tried adding cats to the Lacey Act. Sign the petition and write your representive!!!!!!
The woman they interviewed hasn't even encountered a snake. When an if she does, she'll be fully trained in dumping pythons onto sharp rocks and dragging them around.
they are African and do more damage than anything I can think of right now........FREE America of them all !..yea.....
....noone cares about rats...period...any kind...all bull...
(not your bull, bull they would mention it)......

Yes...because I'm sure Burmese pythons are the only things eating wood rats and deer...
no one pay attention to any natural predators like puma or coyote...

it is funny that you say that because I heard one of the reporters say that there were puma's eaten by the snakes as well so I guess one could argue that as young balls they endanger the rats but as they become larger they protect the rats by eating the other predators. The dear kind of cracks me up to because where I come from we have dear season. Not to mention if any burm eats a dear he isn't going to need a meal for a little while.
Please note I do take this seriously however there are some aspects to this just are just a joke. I mean lets kill a huge market and toss thousands of jobs/ business across america, just to save a rat??? It's a good thing our economy is doing good, LOL!
Matt
Key Deer are endangered already and the Florida puma is too....they are both smaller than the other subspecies ....
......there is one thing that kills every species of animal in the world...one...the top...the stupidest ....
HUMANS.,......
habitat is the cause....along with introduced species....thousands of species...plants and animals (fish too).....human error....we did this to FL........
too late to worry about native species.......and as said...burms will never make it past like Miami?....if that......

Coyotes are NOT a native species but only an oppurtunistic predator that has migrated naturaly to replace the Red Wolves which were extirpated by man in the early 1900's. Historically there were NO Coyotes or Armadillos here in Florida and man had NOTHING to do with them being here now....
