Percentages of a male breeding 2 females

pithons Feb 05, 2009 11:46 PM

Ok, still new to breeding. I had a male mate a female for almost 2 months and now she is super thick and he has no interest. So I put him with another lone female and he is all over her. Just wondering the odds of a male breeding 2 females in one season. I know with the high end stuff some ppl have 2 males to one female to secure the seed has been planted. But Im just wondering from those with experiance. What are the odds that after a lone male plants the seed in one female, what are the chances of him completing the deed to another female. Give or take a week or 2 in between. Thanks for your response

I have always bred one male to two females. I think size and age play a factor. I had a 2006 male motley just about 50in, breed a Dh hypo and a albino. I was prety surpised since he is so small, but for me the percentage has always worked for me.KNOCK ON WOOD!!! Good luck. Marshall

I used to think that it was best to breed 1 male to 1 female and no more.

Now, I think it's possible for 1 male to breed 2 females with no problem. As long as the male finishes up the first one early in the season.

I had 1 male breed 2 females in 2007. I got 2 perfect litters from them in 2008.

I have another male that bred to 2 females in the 2008 breeding season. Both of those girls are currently pregnant. This was a young male and his first time breeding. His first female is due on Feb 15th. His second female is due on April 9th.

So, I believe that 1 male can successfully breed 2 females. I just wouldn't put a male in with 2 females at the same time.
