breeding

zippy00_99 Feb 06, 2009 02:50 PM

I have a GORGEOUS normal female, and when I try to put her with other females she just bites them very aggresively, and when I put her with males she bites the hell out of them as well. I would love to try and breed her, but she is so mean to everything exept humans. She loves me and my girlfriend. She has spent 3 years by herself in an enclosure, so how do I break her of her independence so that she will be nice to other geckos?

Sounds like you may have what is refered to as a hot female which means she was incubated at 90 degrees or higher. Generally these females are very aggressive and won't breed and i'm not sure but i think they may be sterile as well.

Do you put her in there tanks, when you want to try to let then associate with each other, or do you put her in the other geckos tanks to socialize her?.

If you have a spare tank, you could try to introduce them to each other that doesn't belong to either group, in a scence, nutral ground.

If not, introduce them to there tanks, if you havent tried yet.

You could also try to take her out of her tank, and another out of the other tank, and put her on one leg and the other on the other leg, and slowly let them get to know each other, over several times.

It's worth a try.

Try using the "paper trick" I won't pretend to take credit for it, but I have tried it and it does work.
