fattiesnleos Feb 06, 2009 05:24 PM

hello all, long time no read. hehe well anyways yeah, i havent posted in a while mostly because i havent been breeding and still havent done any advertising for my hatchlings from 2 seasons ago that im still holding onto. hears the story, i have been breeding/keeping 60-100 geckos (fattails & leos)for the past 5yrs. throughout that time period i have never let them go into hibernation which does not seem to effect them however, i have not tried breeding anyone the last 2 seasons. i was thinking maybe i should let them hibernate this season bcuz im gunna be taking some tuff classes this semester taking up a lil extra time but plan on getting serious with the geckos into this next spring and summer. so i was curios if anyone knows of any GOOD websites that can give me directions on how to go about setting my guys up so they can have a safe long nap time. or better yet if anyone here is a serious breeder whom has personal experience with this some pointers would be great! i pretty much need to know everything, ill try to do some reading and wut not on the subject but i really wanna hear from personal experience! sorry for the lack of punctuation, grammer, and spelling.
Pictures are back from when we had to evacuate due to the fires, yep i live out in southern cali.

You just back from a show on a Bender. those enclosures will work for hibernation Brumation..hope they have bigger HOMES but like i said those lil bedrooms they're in are fine for COOL Temps. they should have water during Domancy (at least snake do )..I have sleeping(Brumating) reptiles for now going on 3 Months and wee have been the coldest last week .But it is warming next week and i will water and Sun the Basking types for the second time this winter and may have to artificially Wake them (Its Been COLD here in Fl.)than normal. i will be waking them and you just putting them down. I dont see any problems with a late winter Cool down

no no no, i guess i didnt make the pics clear. those were taken when i had to evacuate back in the 07 firestorm here in cali. lol. i had to pack everyone up in sandwich containers. there normal enclosures are 32qt tubs. i just need to know how slowly to adjust the temps and when to start the temp adjustment after the last feeding. and how cool it needs to be in order for it to actually work. and then i need to know how gradually i should raise the temps and when to re-introduce food.
-these racks are their permanent homes and what some of them have lived in their entire lives.

well i couldnt find any brumation directions for leopard geckos but i lowered everyones thermostats to 85 degrees from 91.5 degrees on the warm ends. i figure a few weeks of this then i can take it down another few degrees and then leave it for a while. they havent eaten in about 2 wks becuz i was planning on doing this but i think im gunna feed them lightly this week and next then skip the 3rd and thats when ill drop the temps again. this is what i am assuming works but no ones posting and i cant find any good info on the subject. i guess ill just have to monitor my 60 animals closely... if anyone can give any pointers i would appreciate it! i love my geckos and dont want to harm them.
