Popped another egg

Against all advice, I transferred the remaining eggs to a similar container, but much drier. My gut feeling is, they will die in the container they were in, so I have nothing to lose. Its so wet, its growing algae. This last egg burst on its own, and a couple others look turgid just like it was.

Sadly, the hatchling had skin. And beautiful spots and white chin stripes like its mother. Damn. 40 more days to go.

On a nicer note, the female is cycling again, three weeks after she laid the last eggs. She's huuuuuge. (Thanks rsg) So I should have eggs from three clutches, all incubating at one time. That is pretty neato, I think.
Do monitors have an 'off' switch? hahahahahaha

Sorry to hear about the egg Goon, I know all this waiting is frustrating, be patient.
It is really uplifting to hear about your successes thus far in your breeding effort. Remember, although the eggs are still "cooking" you have achieved much, more than many others I can think of.

Keep it up, and as always,

Good Luck!

Sorry to hear. Them dang monitor eggs are a pain in the hind quarters. They take so long, the time spans several seasons, this means, you need to take controll so they are not effected by the outside weather.

I just had an egg die, that has been incubating for a year and three months. What the heck is that?

I guess the point is, you will learn to hatch eggs, that is, if you want babies. I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Good luck Frank

hmmmm, I thought you didn't like me anymore..

Its been a day, and the eggs are still OK since being transferred. I'm kicking myself now, for not doing it sooner. The other egg box might have carried them this far, but the rapid swelling of the eggs in the past month or so, made me worried. Here is a case of I'm the only one who can see them. I think I am fortunate that I have zero experience hatching eggs, and have talked to nobody concerning the eggs. It took 4 popped eggs to get me to watch the temps more, and to move them someplace drier. Only time will tell, if I am doing the right thing. 9 are left.
And I'm learning something. Sometimes withholding advice, is the best thing you can do over the Internet. People really should figure stuff out on their own.
Thanks for being you, don't ever change, sir.
