breeding

zippy00_99 Feb 06, 2009 10:22 PM

i have a 100% het pied male that has been mating with my normal female since november, and I still don't see folicles. how long does it take from first lock up to eggs laid? She has been cooling herself off and on with her water bowl, but I can;t see anything yet. she is 2000 plus grams, so she is pretty big.

I have been getting lock's since Oct. and came home tonight
and had my first ovulation of the season. So there is really no
set timeframe for egg's until you see an ovulation then the prelay shed.

I haven't bred yet, but I read is isn't unheard of for a female to store sperm up to six months before fertilizing because she doesn't feel her egg-laying needs are met. Maybe recheck all your temps, humidity, and the egg box to make sure she is comfortable?
