You are likely reffering to either Maticora or Calliophis ssp. all of which are near impossible to keep alive for any length of time....Google Maticora bivergata, red head, very pretty but impossible to keep. I've had quite a few of all of these and all died shortly after receiving them...

I haven't kept any nor do I know anyone that does. However there is a place called reptilesmalaysia.com that I have seen that sells them. Maybe they can give some tips on them.

If I remember correctly, Dan (Scolaro) had one of these beauties a year ago. It was a baby and he was feeding it skink tails.

I can even post a picture if he wishes.

I had one which is still alive and well and is now in the care of my friend. It eats well on F/T cornsnakes and also ate a stillborn albino WDB. It was wild caught in March 08 and I collected it via an the Hamm expo in Germany. My friend and I probed it at the weekend and it went to a depth of 6 subcaudals, so were are no wiser on what the sex is. Anyone got any idea? I'll post some pics of it feeding etc if anyones interested.

This is my coralsnake eating a stillborn WDB rattlesnake. the last pic is of me returning it to its viv after sexing. It lives in a 9 lire plastic box, half filled with garden mulch, a water bowl and some cork bark and some dry leaves. Temps approx 77/78f.

Absolutely stunning...Nice job mate!

How long exactly have you had it? (I know you said it was collected on March 08' but did you get it right away?)

I am planning to move to Switzerland for good this summer and if Hamburg has snakes like that, that's another reason for me to move close by .

If you don't mind, can I ask how much you paid for it?

Hi Yasin,I collected the snake on the day it was imported. It must have been freshly caught as it appeared to be healthy and active when I received it. It may have been slightly dehydrated as it drank and drank each time I sprayed it. It is kept only very slightly damp, not wet. It also has a dry area on top of the cork bark. It is nocturnal, only appearing in complete darkness and will immediately retreat to its hiding place at the first sign of movement outside the viv, therefore making a useless display animal. Highly nervous, it curls its tail and jerks and twitches when touched or moved. It will only eat snakes, preferably cornsnakes, dead or alive. All other prey is refused. I paid about 200 dollars U.S.

Apparently it's attitude is somewhat similar to American corals. Too bad that it is not a good display animal, with those colors it would be perfect.

200$ for a healthy Malaysian blue coral is great! Last time I inquired around here, it was around 400-500$ or so. I am coming to Europe permanently on August and I would love to get one but snake eaters are tricky.

Do you have a corn snake supplier in UK?

Yasin

ps: Please e mail me if you can mate, I gotta meet European herpers.
