It's the lighting. I have an Olympus Stylus 300. Any suggestions on how to fix it? That was taken with only the mercury vapor bulb. I tired flash, no flash. I doesn't seem to make a difference.
I bought a "HIGH YELLOW" Brooksi (southern Florida kingsnake) a year & a 1/2 ago and the pic they guy showed me make it look sooo yellow, I couldn't pass it up. Well, when I got the snake the guy then tells me, "Oh, I noticed when I was packing him up that it didn't look as yellow as the pic did". I was like, "Ya don't say?" I looked at the pic again and could kick myself in the rear for not noticing the guys hand looked a bit yellow too, especially his calices (which would have been more white than the rest of his hand). ( I believe, he took the pic, under a merc. Vap. bulb)
To sum it up,, my Brooksi looks normal but (& I do show my friends this when I am showing them the snake,),, but when I move him near a Merc. Vap. bulb, he just glows with yellow.
Now,,, not all my snakes do this, it's something to do with the color of his pigment that reacts or should I say, reflects the yellow the way it does.
So, would you say, that bulb makes your dragon look more yellow in the pic than it is in real life, when not under the bulb?

I'd say it's pretty close to that color, except the orange tinges in my dragon don't look orange in the picture. I just took this one. I believe the color's more accurate. What do you think? As far as the brick goes.
It looks like that pic was taken seconds after the other pic was taken. Everything is in the same position other than the head is slightly moved. ??
Did you still have the Merc. Vap. light on for the new pic? Try putting a normal light over the area, remove the Merc. Vap., and see how that turns out.
I do know what you are saying about the orange not showing up,, the yellow hue of the Merc. will wash it out.
Try as many ways as you can. I have found that white backgrounds or place the dragon on a white platform or something, towel, etc. Somewhere away from the Mercury Vapor light. Try for white, bright light.
I would like to see how they differ..
That's the beauty of digital, you can try a thousand different ways and not have to pay to develop them, just to see how it worked. lol
Have fun.

I just took these to show you the difference a Mercury Vapor bulb can make.
These are of the Brooksi I mentioned earlier. "he is in shed so it isn't even showing up as well as it does when he isn't so dull"
This is him under normal light.
And this is him, in my dragons cage, under a mercury vapor bulb.
Same exact snake.

Okay, I think I got it this time. I don't have any soft white bulbs in my house. It's all compact flourescents. This one the best representation though.
The other picture was taken secones later, but with or without the camera's flash. I'm not sure. By the way, that's really a huge difference the mercury vapor bulbs make.

How old it that one? I would like to see it as an adult.
I just sold an orange green mix that I'm kind of thinking I should have kept, but I need to keep males like I need to keep their pooo. lol
By the way,, compact fluorescents are awesome bright output bulbs (well, most of them) I have some on my 125 planted tank that rock! They have some fancy reflectors over them, but if you look at them head on, it literally hurts your eyes. In fact, I have a 13wt. in each of my new Neodesha cages for my adult dragons. Nice bright, white output.
Okay, I'm rambling again.
Later.

Oh,, here is the orange green guy.
He's about 3 months old. He's a big boy, I want to say he's 12 inches, but I have to measure him.
I have mixed feelings for compact flourescents. They work great, except in reef tanks. The actinics aren't true actinics. But than I have four tanks that are lighted by power compacts. Two of them are "planted" aquariums. One's a seahorse tank and the other's my reef.
I like the male that you just sold. Do you think he'd actually keep the green with all that orange he has going on? I'd be very curious to see what he looks like after a couple of sheds.
