Refused to eat.

RainbowBright Feb 07, 2009 09:11 PM

I have a young columbian boa whom i feed jumbo pre-killed mice to every 7 days. This week i placed her in her brown bag along with a live mouse. She showed interest in it as it was staying still but once it started hopping around she backed off. She has eaten live before and never hesitated to strike however this was months ago. Could she be used to pre-killed? I didn't think there was such thing as a snake refusing live prey aside from illness and such.

they aren't too hungry they can shy away. If they are hungry they lie in wait and ambush by suprise. Being put in a bag with a live mouse isn't very natural. It is always best to feed prekilled. If they are hungry enough they will eat them even if you have to make the prey "seem" alive with some tongs.
