Pseustes Update

Tokaysrnice Feb 08, 2009 01:04 PM

Haven't posted in awhile so I figured I'd give an update on the Pseustes sulphureus pair. The male is doing great and has really started to put on some size. I have moved him into the bigger cage I made out of the dishwasher. He is now taking food as a feeding response opposed to the tease feeding that was required to get him going initially.

The female has decided to start eating after 6 months of force feeding pinkies. She is taking day old quail via tease feeding and has started to fill out and put on some size. Her coloration is a lot more grey than the male and she seams to be getting lighter grey with every shed as opposed to the male who is gaining more yellow.

On a side note I'm really happy with the snakes I am keeping right now, I walked into the snake room the other day to see the two Pseustes, two Spilotes, two Cribos and my sole Pituophis staring at me from thier respective hides. It kind of gave me the creeps and wondered what they were plotting.

I'm glad they are doing well. Love the cage out of dishwasher idea. I'd like to hear how you did that.

Thanks Matt,
I'll be working on another one once the snow melts in the mountains and plan to take lots of pics and do a nice writeup.
