that's what they look like to me too

never saw that

I DID have a female ball drop a load of fat....that's what my pile looked like...just fat...not as developed as yours...I had no idea what or where it came from...it was white and clean and looked just like fat ,( I still have it in the freezer ).....it was smaller blobs and all hooked together.....

.yours are developed and you can see the shape of follicle in them......

.....what happened to her?.....anything odd?.....(a fall? is all I can think of)

I put mine through cold ,and heat and all kinds of stuff...too dry ,too wet and too much food.and not enough....I never had this....

......good luck......

Very interesting. Will female Balls abort when they have an infection like cattle do? (I know, a strange comparison, bear with me)

Southern_Style Feb 08, 2009 05:25 PM

I would've thought they would absorb rather than abort.... :/

pinhead Feb 08, 2009 05:53 PM

Me too...no male present and they absorb, male present she'll shell them and either get good eggs or unfertilized. I've never seen it before and don't even know if they really are follicles.

Follicles are not absorbed once produced , at least that is what I have been told by Herp Vets and Herpetologist alike . But I may be wrong , but not likely . David

i lost a female due to them getting lodged and turning necrotic. i had no idea they were in there till it was too late. the surgery seemingly went well but she never really recovered and declined.

dsreptiel Feb 08, 2009 09:24 PM

That’s what they are all right, Here are some from a Rat Snake to compare them to, I can’t remember who sent the photos to me to identify what they were . David

pinhead Feb 08, 2009 09:30 PM

Thanks...I figured they were. Any known causes for this?

dsreptiel Feb 09, 2009 03:38 PM

Well the only thing I know of is improper fertilization . David

jyohe Feb 09, 2009 05:31 PM

don't even look big enough to have been through ovulation???

...never heard of the infection thing...I only thought of maybe really bad stress or a fall.....

....hhmmmm......

where's Dave Barker or Richard Ross??? (etc)

Which infection thing are you referring to ? Yes tress is another thing that could cause it , I often forget to mention stress as I look at it as a given for a possible cause in almost every aliment involving Reptiles . But thanks for adding it . David

jyohe Feb 10, 2009 08:21 PM

I didn't mention infections first...read up above more....
not sure which...there are many....I guess some or all could cause alot of things to go wrong....

....usually my balls lay good or bad eggs or no eggs...not this aborted stuff....

..(just once)....
