Is a bird lover, but I think that all of us in this reptile community can appreciate how the sponsors feel about introduced fauna that damages the ecosystem.

What bothers me is shoot from the hip reaction that will punish the responsible keepers/breeders, and it still will not fix the problem. I have to believe that the very people that would dump an animal in the wild would be the same person who would break the law and obtain one on the black market.

The problem is with the owners of these animals not the animals themselves, but we will have a hard time convincing them of that.

Guam was/is an ecological disaster and will most likely be a source for them making their argument to pass the bill.

We need to be heard on this one.

Be well.

I saw this and realized immediately they are using her as a front because of what happened 65 years ago in Guam with the Brown snake.
They will spin it to make it sound like the Brown tree Snake was introduced to Guam last year probably or recently.
That's my best guess.

the sposors of the bill HR669.

Hello,
My name is Brendan Magee. I have been raising reptile all my life. It is my belief that if this bill HR669 is aloud to pass to any degree, it will made criminals out
of a lot of Americans for no reason.
I started our small boa breeding business in 1998 and have paid taxes on this income every year since. This is not just a source of income for my family it is a passion I share with my ten year old son as well.
When breeding each year we keep some of the best back for future breeding stock and sell the rest. This money
although not much in many eyes is use to pay our bills and to buy food for our small but very loved and needed collection of boas.
More people and native wild life are harmed or killed each year in the US by cats and dogs (both feral and pets alike) than all exotics combined. These animals
(cats/dogs) can live in any state and do not hibernate so they must kill year round to survive. Not one boa or python species that I know of can live through the winter north
of Florida.
It is also my belief that as hard working Represenitives of this Great Country/Government of ours that you have many bigger fish to fry.
PLEASE keep in mind how many people you would be putting out of work and or business by sponsoring this bill and allowing it to pass.

Best Wishes and Warm Regards.

I sent her a message. You can just pull up her name on google and leave her a well thought out message. Show your parents that you can actually think and chew gum at the same time, and write her, with an educated positive message. Everyone on this forum needs to do this, as well as become members to PIJAC. I am concerned that several of us forum members are not doing their part. Please do your part as a herp lover and make it happen.

realistically from a non educated point of view the guam arguement will seem very hard to conter especially considering i dont think we have any reptile keeping brethern in congress and when you combine the horse sh*t the humane society an peta spew about how dangerous reptile keeping is for both the keeper and the animal, this coupled with the fact that we as the reptile enthusiasts are currently being looked at as the source of the prolbem its looking like an uphill battle

there is also an ammendment to the constition that protects our rights not specifically enumerated in the rest of the constition
