Cryptosporidium

Rex550 Feb 08, 2009 05:05 PM

My leopard geckos were diagnosed with cryptosporidium. They both were put on humatin(1/2 cc twice a day), flagyl(1/2 cc once a day), calmag(1/2 cc once a day), and I have been giving them a caloric supplement made by Zilla(pea sized drop three times a day). The girl, "Cindy" who was far worse than the boy, "Rex" died yesterday. I am worried about Rex. Am I doing everything possible to make sure he recovers. Is there anything else I can do? He has lost a lot of weight and his ribs, shoulder, and hip bones are visible. I would greatly appreciate any info you can give me. You can email me on my mom's email at karentygesson@hotmail.com. Or if you can call 443-848-9599. Thank you so much, Nikolas.

Clean the cage every time it poos.....really important. The bacteria will be in the poo, so you need to get rid of it and clean the cage every time.

Also, try to make sure the food(is the gecko eating) isn't able to eat the gecko's poo, because some mealworms and crickets will, which can reintroduce the parasite's back into the gecko's system.

Try to induce as little stress as possible.
