Took the plunge into small varanids today. I bought an adult female red ackie from my buddy's shop. She's got a banged up foot but she's otherwise fat and healthy, even taking pinks off tongs already! I'm amazed at the acute awareness this monitor displays. I think I'm really going to enjoy keeping this species.

She looks like a Yellow Monitor. I have several breeders and I am pretty sure. Still a very cool monitor Good luck

Best $40 lizard I've ever bought, this girl (my guess on the gender) is a riot to watch. I wish I'd gotten into ackies sooner. Still not sure if she's a red or a yellow but since she's a pet and not a breeder it doesn't much matter.

What lens did you use for this? Looks like you shot it available light? What a photogenic species, I wish I could keep williamsi.

The Williamsi pic was taken under florescent lighting with no flash. The Bosc pics were no-flash MACRO, while playing with backlighting, this pic was muted flash MACRO.

Nice. I struggle to get depth of field with my macro lens, what was this, f16? f22? When I do get the DOF I end up looking really flashed because I'm not getting the ambient light...
