Thickness of an IJ

mbm95 Feb 08, 2009 08:42 PM

Hey guys. Could ya'll tell me how thick is your average five foot Irian Jaya in inches? I can't tell by any pictures on the internet because they are just of the snake. Thanks for your help.

Depends on size of the animal however ij's are the smallest, and stay incredibly slender, however can be as big as a small water bottle perhaps, but that would be a LARGE female breeder. As far as in inches 2-5 maybe bigger all depends.

Okay, thanks. That was by far the quickest reply I have ever gotten. Could you show me some pictures of yours? I want a snake that you can still tell is a python via thickness. Is a jungle thicker for its length?

By the way, I want a male. Thanks again.

i dont have big IJ's i just recently picked up the pair from a friend, his breeding animals are outstanding, would strongly recommend him. Jungles are incredible animals love mine to death, really depends what you want, and the male will stay smaller than the female, normally.

I like the look of Irian Jayas alot, but I can't decide if they are too small for my liking (keep in mind my liking is less than seven feet). Are we talking colubrid slender or ball python slender or what? Could you show me a picture of one of your Jungles so I can get a good size judgement?

Get a big coastal. 8-9' or bigger.

Anyway, this whole threead sounds like an ad for a porno movie.

"My snake's bigger than your snake". Actually, that's what was on the T-shirts that KS handed out last year at Daytona Beach

Can I, being a beginner snake owner, be able to manage such a large snake? How big are the cage requirements?

Jaykis Feb 21, 2009 11:16 AM

Concentrate more on the appearance and type of animal before size. Look for a really nice animal in good condition first.

In some situations, size really doesn't matter
