Tommorow, when I go to the town hall meeting with the President Barack H. Obama....yepp!
I went out last night just, got in line about 11:30 p.m.. Froze my butt off, and then this morning, there were a couple thousand folks in line. The guy next to me, just happened to be reporter for The News Press here in Ft.myers, and we chatted then he asked to blog me, I was like ok.
(link to story at bottom)
Anyway...It was crazy this morning, line was jammed 2 hrs before they started giving out tickets..They were only passing out 1500, two to each person..I knew it would be close, after I got my tickets, I didnt even get across the street, and they announce, "sorry folks, we are out of tickets"
Wow..
So hopefully if i get picked, which I have a good shot, I may bring this issue up, and tie it in to the economy.
Wish me luck.

Mike

Very interesting Mike I hope you get a chance to speak with Pres., Obama and bring the reptile issue, our point of view to the forefront.
Last year I specifically wrote to then Senator Obama about the HR 6311 issue.
I did receive a response many months later. I was disappointed
in the response it was very generalized covering environalmental
issue and only touching on the topic of which I was concerned.
I Linked the Blog your in below Mike

Something to consider ,

A huge and technically illegal land deal was recently brokered involving one of the nations most ecologically destructive company's US Sugar and the state of Florida in the name of environmental restoration. The state over paid by hundreds of millions of dollars after being advised by independent appraisers it was bad deal. In the end tax payers will get killed. US sugar completely ripped the state off. Wth Florida leading the nation if foreclosures ,unemployment schools in the toilet ........Why was this deal made?

Payback and future aspirations on the part of various politicians and their constituents. The kicker this deal is supposed to be the corner stone of the everglades restoration program but it will in fact siphon off funds from key restoration programs and delay these restoration programs 6 to 10 years and maybe forever. There's also a nice lease back option and a few other " favorable " perks for the guys that supported this deal. I don't think Bill Nelson the Governor or any of the numerous party's that stand to benefit from this deal will be interested in anything anyone has to say about pet ownership, science or being fair .

Right now their scrambling to cover up this scam anyway possible. A great way to show their serious about everglades restoration is by killing off the monster snakes and making sure this never happens again anywhere. It's all about appearances right now. They made this land deal all in the name of saving the everglades and the unicorns and mermaids to.

According to the pre election survey the Humane society gives all potential candidates . Obama scored 100 for supporting their views. He was endorsed by them. I have a feeling that any legislation that reaches his desk earmarked by them will get his approval. I'm going to go grab a slice of apple pie and salute the flag , maybe listen to a Pete Seeger record.

So Mr. Charlies tan skin and pearly whites does not go to waste... he's still going to 'look' good! LOL! Ernie, you have a pretty good point made here. Glad to hear you chime in. Now, WRITE Uncle Bill anyway!

Matt
p.s. - I was initially SO happy to hear about the deal, then with more info realized it's not potentially going to be about restoration in the classic sense... why? The land is literally TOO far GONE and one of the largest ecological problems the state will ever deal with. Kind of a 180,000 acre dump (super massive amounts of phosphorous) that needs so much cleaning before water can ever leave it again... Maybe some 'bright' minds will determine a good route for ecological succession which will eventually lead to an 'old' style sheet flow for water into the Glades... just hope I'm not dead before then and can see the benefit if it ever happens.

I don't know the particuklars of this FL. land deal.Although its sounds to me like a ploy used by many large Garbage disposal enterprises. They fill up a Garbage dump site. Then its no longer profitable so they offer to donate the property ,dump site to the local Village ,City ,Town, Government. Then all the ecological problems associated with these huge dump sites are no longer the problem of the major garbage disposal company. The Village or town if naive enough accepts the dump site property and inherit all the ecological problems that accompany the site.
They end up paying for it forever
