Hey guys - does anyone know what the earliest recorded catch is? Beginning of April, maybe even March?

I am sure that with enough digging you could find at least one collection record on alterna for each of the 12 months of the year.

Now in the world of normal and expected people seem to begin their efforts in May on the early side. The simple fact is that the animals exist year round 24/7 and if you lived there one might turn up any time.

Thanks Lance - if it warms up early this year, I might try a long weekend last week of March, early April. Even if I don't find anything, I could use a logistical orientation in preparation for the regular season...

Sorry I missed you at the show. Larry told me you were around, but I had my head in all the cups. I bought a really pretty 277 male from him for my daughter. Had a blast. Maybe next time!

My earliest dates are April 25, 1992 for 20 mi. south of Alpine, and May 4, 1992 for Black Gap. I hold the record for the earliest Black Gap ever found, and on my first and only attempt too. Yay ME.

I know that John Martin caught a Black gap male on April 30th.
Sorry to bust your bubble. BA

Well, it's not documented on Dan Johnson's website, and if it ain't documented then it don't count. LOL He better tell Dan so it can get documented. Arrgghhh, I've been de-throned. At least I still have a perfect record on that road...

I know Troy Hibbitts can confirm that date but yes kudos to you for finding a gapper on your first and only visit. You found 2 really hard to find localities in what? 2 days? I found an alterna on the gap on my 6th night and then again on my 7th night cruising that road. Those 2 nights were 10 months apart however. Put in 62 nights on the gap since then and found 0 alterna. Curse that road!! LOL. BA

I found a DOR on Juno road on April 9th on a warm rainy night. The car in front of me hit it, of course.

I was talking to the landowner of Eagle Nest Canyon many years ago and he told me he found one out crawling on a sunny January day back in the early 80s.
