Need a part

I have been looking for those little plastic door catches that you find on many of the hinged plastic cage doors. They attach with a screw and have a wing that swivels to catch and hold the door closed.

Habitat Systems uses them along with some of the other cage builders. I have been searching to no avail and am hoping maybe someone here has a source.

I hope my description is adequate, I could not find a descent pic.

Thanks in advance.

Larry,

Last time I bought those was in about 2003. I found them at a Woodcraft store in Indianna.

If you mean these little plastic things, I got these at Home Depot.

Thanks guys.

I am helping a friend with these cages and we are trying to keep the cost down. I did see those screen retainers at Home Depot, but was hoping for something a little bigger and in black.

Can't seem to find them anywhere else, so I think I am just going to go ahead and rout the holes for 1/4 turn latches and be done with it.

If you want something more substantial, you can get these chrome ones from boat supply stores.

Here’s a link to the one in the picture

Or these fancy brass ones like this

Good luck with the project!

We ended up going with the screen retaining wings from Home Depot. We cut off the nib so that they sit flat and they got painted black to match.

Worked out good, but I will still be on the lookout for a proper wing catch.

Thanks for all the responses.
