this male is really shy

and I don't see him much, but his female (about twice his size) is in shed. He came up and ate six mice, while she was down. This is normal behavior for this pair. They will most likely start breeding once she is done shedding, time will tell.

When searching Cal kings in the wild, we always find males basking under boards a few weeks before females. Males are adjusting their temperatures for optimum sperm production perhaps?
