It was a great to once again have NARBC in Arlington. Gotta love the large shows. I got to talk to Nigel Marvin a while about the shark attack video, and I have been wanting to do that a while.

Rock Canyon Ranch was in the house. Nice to see Larry B. and Berry K. They had some very nice alterna - Gap, Xmas, 277 and Juno's. I hope they did well at the show.

The San Angelo Nature center was in attendance. They had some nice subocs. Good to see Mike P, Justin and Shawn.

Snakes to the MAX was there. Glad to see him and new wife. (I hope we have more good luck this year!)

Shores'nuff had some neat generics.

By the amount of people at the show it would be hard to believe we are in a recession. The vendors may say otherwise. It was a nice show. As usual I took a camera and didn't get a darn picture. Figures...

Ball pythons were in attendance. Pie balds are now down to 1300 bucks. The big seller in my opinion this year were the bearded dragon stands... OMG Everytime you went to look at them they were beyond crowded. I guess these are the new thing.

NARBC was fun. Picked up a Bearded for Dianna and Nathanial.
It is some super orange flame something or another... I asked if it was locality and the guy gave me the weirdest look. (I was laughing inside). Wish I could have picked up more xmas animals from Rock Canyon but we need more feeders and heat tape.

Best Wishes to everyone,

Steven X

Thanks for the report!

It was a good show, I made a little dinero, got rid of some animals, picked up some corns from Don Soderberg, and a friend delivered a pair of Christmas Mountain Alterna to me. Great show for me.

I agree with you about the recession. There were lots of folks there, but I didn't see that many sales. I was there all day Saturday, but only witnessed four actual sales. Granted, I was looking for them, just the ones I noticed. It would be neat if one of the vendors got on here and told us how they did.

Man, I'll be happy when the Ball Python things dies. And now they're starting to do it with Bloods. I think I saw the pie bald animal you were talking about. Do you think the price is really dropping, or was it because that particular animal was hideous?

I must confess, I almost bought a baby green tree python, but thank God the feeling passed...

The ball python I saw was pretty neat... I have to admit i like the pied-balls. It wasn't as brilliant as some that were way more expensive. It was regular and then had some of the white in bands. I like those... I don't want an all white snake... Personally I like the contrast. Brown and then bright white.

I am looking forward to producing some hatchlings and maybe getting a booth or sharing one... My problem is that I am not much for selling stuff...

I did notice one thing... The stands where people were standing up and engaging the folks were selling a lot more than the folks sitting and zoned out. I know it is tough answering the same questions over and over...

Again nice to see everyone.

Best Wishes,

Steven X

I sold out of B. dubia roaches, and sold a few corns. Over all I made a little money. I was there working for Don Soderberg of South Mountain Reptiles (mostly corns). He did pretty good, I don't think he did as great as last year, but it was definitely worth going for him.

Thanks for the rundown on the show Steve, I would love to attend that one someday.. At the shows here in NY I am really the only one with Alterna, which is good for my sales, but I rarely if ever come home with new animals for my collection.

Same here. Most snakes I'd like would RARELY make it to a show table unsold. They're usually sold before they hatch.

Whoa, I'm WAY out of the loop!

Mark Pyle from DFW said if I was a "true" herper I would've driven back down to TX for the show. Would've been about a 9-hr drive each way. I might do that for a marathon road-cruising episode but not for a deli cup event.

We kept a ball python a couple of years ago while the owner was deployed and the Kid really enjoyed that. However, balls are too "mainstream" for my tests, as well as not US-native which is my "thing," so I got her a baby rosy boa last fall. Cute little guy, recognizes us when we approach and everything.

Chris, will you be out west foreseeably?..is that a word? I shoulda' gone and tabled with Carl. Mike how did Carl do? I would of only had 10 thayeri, 8 splendida,4 specks and a few mexican bairdi, felt I would have needed more stock to cover the trip.

Carl did great. Sold a bunch of high end geckos, a pair of panther chameleons, and sold/traded some blue cross iguanas. He definitely came out ahead. You should have come. We had a blast.

Chris, will you be out west foreseeably?

Alas, I am but a pawn of the govt and won't know my future for another month or so. Recreationally speaking, I need to get back to TX to renew my CCL but I probably won't be making it too far south.

"tests" should read "tastes." I am publicly shamed.

The show was nice!! Much better than last year, in terms of colubrids to look at!! Larry at RCR did seem to have the most alterna!! I got a chance to talk to Barry at their table, for a while as well about alterna, and they had some screamer babies!!

Don Shores also had some smoking granite graybands, and killer hi-yellow splendida.

Since pits are my main thing, I didn't see as much as I would have liked, but even so, the show was really a nice one to attend. Colubrids were in full swing this year, as last year, they were few and far in between.

Take care!
