Scared Male What To Do?

Joeycoco98 Feb 10, 2009 11:46 AM

So I put my female in with my male Florida last night and it was like I put him in boiling water. He ran from her so fast that he literally flew out of the cage into my arms. Anyone else experience that? She had just shed so i thought maybe she would be interested in breeding. He just lost it whe she touched him. She did not attack him in any way. She is a bit bigger than him but not by by much so it should not have been a size issue. I will try again in a few days. Last year it did take her a week or so after shed for her to get in the mood.

sometimes they do that when they smell a bigger male... double check the sex of your female.

Haha, I love it when that happens, not to you, anyone, especially me, like last year with an acquaintances "female" and my male, they both fled the scene of the accident! I told him to check his female!

The male is the only one in question the female bred for me last year. I would be extremely shocked if he is not a male. But I will get someone to sex him for me again.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I've had young males run away from females. May try reintroducing them later if you're sure they are a pair.

Joeycoco98 Feb 10, 2009 10:08 PM

yea that is what I plan to do I think he just freaked since he has never been in contact with another snake. She did not give of pheromones until more than a week after her first shed last year so it may just be a matter of time.

Thanks!

Yep tried that already he showed no interest. I dont' need the babies nor do sell any babies I have produced which has only been three clutches hahaah. I will see if he is interested in a couple of days. She did not show signs of being interested last year for about a week or so after her post winter shed. If not, no biggie

Thanks again,
Miller
