Which parasites are encountered in leos?

xelda Sep 10, 2003 04:36 PM

Okay, so I've got a couple of books and I'm trying to read up on herp parasites. Even though the books do a good job of breaking the topics down into simple terms, I'm still overwhelmed by how much is being covered. There's a lot of stuff out there can hurt our little guys! The books attempt to provide a broad explanation of parasites in general without providing any details as to which ones I'm more likely to encounter, particularly in leos. Can anybody help me out here?

pinworms. they are fairly common especially among bug eating animals, specificaly animals that eat crickets. their are alot of other parasites to worry about but generally you encounter these with wild caught animals. someother things you can encounter that are not parasittes are viral infections, protozoal infections and bacterial infections. if you want to know more about these particular ailments look for a book on reptiles parasites and reptiles illnesses. there is a good one out there but for the life of me i cant remeber the name or who wrote it. but whatever book you chose try to get a newer one because they are much easier to read compared to the older ones.... most of the newer ones break things down pretty easily
