How to Sterilize Wood?

DahlalLotus Feb 11, 2009 12:34 PM

I have a great hollow piece of a large tree branch, would make a great hide, has a natural hole in the side and even a climbing off-shoot branch attached. I baked it about a year ago, hoping that would make it safe to put in with a snake but then had it sitting outside for months. I've seen great enclosures made with wood from outdoors, including an elaborate climbing area made out of large grapevine.

What is the best way to kill off any harmful bio matter on wood?

Maybe put it in a microwave oven??? Lotsa luck for any live thing to survive that!!!

see if you could fit it in the oven and bake it. if not, a bleach and water solution works. but the wood might turn a tinge of white. but it looks cool.

LOL! Thanks, I'll give it a try! Hopefully I don't start the thing into flames. ; )
